The Good Time In Between was recorded at the Cabin Studio in Nashville,TN in September of 2021. It was recorded and mixed by Grammy Award winning and ACM Award Nominated engineer, Brandon Bell and produced by Jay Nash and Josh Day.

The songs were recorded live in that three day session where The Contenders were joined by an all star cast of Nashville musicians: Annie Clements (Sugarland, Maren Morris) on upright bass, Ethan Ballinger (Miranda Lambert, Jackson & Sellers) on mandolin, tenor and electric guitars, Megan Mullins (Alabama) and Dustin Ransom (Chely Wright, Gabe Dixon) on keys.

The mutual respect and admiration that these musicians found in each other during this session was palpable and evident in the recording.

The writing of this record was interrupted by the onset of the pandemic but undeterred. In the end, it came together exactly as it was meant to. Three of the songs were written by Nash and Day prior to the shutdown.

Cannonball on the Radio was written via remote session by Jay Nash and Joey Ryan.

‘Nothing at All’ was written via remote session by Jay Nash and Jamie Drake

‘Our Song’ was written by Nash and Day during their first session following an eighteen month respite.
